So it’s almost Valentines Day! Hooray for those little cinnamon heart candies!

I couldn’t remember much about what exactly Valentine’s Day is beyond the admittedly fun exchange of cards when I was in Grade 2… so I went to Wikipedia, of course.

It is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as “valentines“). The day first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.

I couldn’t have said it better myself.

So be it romantic love, or a simple expressions of friendship, Citizen Kid is happy be stocked up on some pretty darn cute Valentine’s Day products… including the aforementioned offerings of greeting cards (known as valentines“).

Check it out!

Naturally I play with a lot of toys – working/living at a toy store ensures this. I stack blocks, I try out new puppets. I might even play a tune on a xylophone every now and then.

But very recently I actually ordered a toy specifically for my own use. I was pretty giddy when it arrived. The first thing I noticed were the rather aggressive graphics on the box.

Then I got a little nervous! A warning? A “hot sporting good?”

Wait. Not a toy?  A monster!

There it is – my very own Kickboard — The Monster! Big fat wheels, a telescopic handle, and perhaps most importantly — the ability to carry over 200 lbs!  🙂

I’ve had a few test runs and I can truly say that this is an awesome machine. It has “exclusive” awesomeness.

I hope to use it for my micro-commute this spring and summer. Eco-friendly exercise! So if you see a grown man trying to keep up with a couple of little girls, that’s me and my daughters. Don’t honk, please! I might get scared and wipe out…  Maybe in a few more weeks I’ll be confidently gliding down the bike lane on Dundurn Avenue.

Video to come…
